Robert Andy Coombs x Joey Solomon
Able hosted a discussion between photographer, Robert Andy Coombs, and photographer/former photography assistant, Joey Solomon, to discuss Issue 2’s theme of ‘Environment’. The duo explore how environments impact their individual practices and experiences as queer, disabled men within the United States. We share their recorded conversation here and the print feature can be found in our Issue 2.
Leroy Moore x Jerron Herman
Able hosted a discussion between Jerron Herman, a disabled dancer and writer, and Leroy F. Moore Jr., a Black disabled writer, author, poet, community activist and co-founder of Krip Hop. In conversation, Jerron and Leroy note the source and legacies of their respective practices. They shared a sense of urgency to educate and incorporate disability within a larger intersection of Black liberation. The written interview can be found in Issue 2.
Digital Worlds, Art and Technology Panel Talk
Able Zine invited four international disabled artists: Aminder Virdee, Hannah Nishat Botero, Joseph Wilk and Yo-Yo Lin to discuss the range of uses technology has on their art or activism practice. Through computational, virtual media and modalities such as hacking, the artists find ways of expressing forms of disability and illness. Together with Claudia, Editor-in-Chief of Able Zine, the panel explores the possibilities for digital realms that transcend the normative physical environment.
