Editing
As well as editing Able Zine, I offer freelance editing services for other publications and printed matter. Here are some I have worked on in the past.
Each to Another is a unique art activity book by seven neurodiverse artists and artists with learning disabilities, who through this book teach activities and aspects of their personal practice to others. The 7 artists are: Jeff Johns, Betty Sargent, Jonathan Barr Lindsay, Beth Richards, Dave Pearse, Louise Morgan, and Chris Rose.
In collaboration with No Bindings, I was invited to edit the publication. This role included copy editing, publication structure and layout recommendations to ensure the publication was consistent, fun and accessible to all readers. Thank you to Art In Motion and No Bindings for having me on this fun project.
‘The Future Is Loading’ is a physical and digital zine created in collaboration with disability arts organisation, Shape Arts. Highlighting the work of artists exhibited in their yearly Shape Open, the exhibition focuses on the realities of society during the COVID-19 pandemic, and explores “the pre-existing pandemics of racism, of gender discrimination, barriers to inclusion and advancement, of gaping inequality, isolation, and disenfranchisement. Set against this uncertain and restless backdrop, where risk of greater exclusion battles with unique opportunities for change, we at Shape are looking to the future as an act of hope.” The zine also features resources and additional materials such as an essay drawing on lessons from the HIV/AIDS epidemic by The Brothers Sick.
